New studies show how different fats affect your energy, - TopicsExpress

New studies show how different fats affect your energy, metabolism, and even mood. A recent study compared two diets—one high in palmatic acid (PA) like fatty acids found mainly in cheese, dairy and meat similar to a Western diet, and the other one high in oleic acid (OA) like olive, canola, peanut, and rapeseed oil similar to fat in the Mediterranean diet. It showed that the replacement of PA with OA was linked to increase physical activity (12-15%) and resting metabolism and a decrease in anger. Here’s a great way to get more PA into your diet—a quick tropical dressing from chef Elizabeth Brown (TheKitchenVixen). Mix 1/4 cup chopped papaya with a few seeds, 1/4 cup brown rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon raw honey, and 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard. – The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, April 2013.
