New team idea: Field Team Alpha. Having put a bit more thought - TopicsExpress

New team idea: Field Team Alpha. Having put a bit more thought int my initial idea for a hunters group, I would like to revise that with a far more general (and practical) idea, complete with positions that need filling! The Rules: this will be a strictly Yellow Band team, with potential for rough roleplay as well as a lot of nighttime work. All characters must be at least somewhat combat capable, but not necessarily full on soldiers. Basically, in ideal circumstances, we will be the only ones who operate primarily outside the colony. As the name suggests, our job is to do the field work, scouting and mapping the area, locating natural resources, performing field research, ect... I am looking for the following positions: Xenobiologist: Will need some kind of field sampling and testing equipment. Your job will be documenting the local wildlife, and more importantly, testing animals that we hunt to make sure they are safe to eat. Nothing like a bad case of lethal alien parasite to ruin your day. Horticulturist: Again, compact, field-capable scientific equipment. Researching and documenting local flora. Perhaps experimenting with various compounds to make medicines. (at STs approval, perhaps some ferment-able plant life could be refined into some sweet alien liquor?) Medic: This ones a no-brainer. We are going to need a field doctor, and your job will be patching up the various wear and tear of extra-terrestrial survival. Also, checking for any nasty local pathogens that could cause us major problems in the future. Hunter: (I will be performing this role, but others are welcome to join) Even IF we are able to set up a stable farming system upon landing (which I seriously doubt), out in the field we will have no such luxury, and rations will only last so long. Hunters will provide food, as well as collecting specimens for the Xenobiologist. They will also be the primary combat muscle of the group. (if you want to play a Hunter, please PM me, as I have some ideas on how we are going to work.) Cartographer/scout: your job is to map out the wilderness, identify natural resources, and make sure we are not walking into any trouble. Finding water will be a particularly important task.
