New theater company to host auditions Published: Sun, August 18, 2013 @ 12:00 a.m. Youngstown Vindicator Staff report YOUNGSTOWN Pied Piper Theatre, a new and professional theater company that targets grade-school students as its audience, will host auditions for its 2013-14 season at 11 a.m. Saturday at Easy Street Productions, 865 Mahoning Ave. The company will perform “The Frog Prince” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” from early October through early May in schools throughout Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. The mission of Pied Piper is to provide quality productions of classic and contemporary children’s literature, with a twist that will ensure students are engaged, entertained, enlightened and empowered to deal with the social issues they encounter. It is geared toward pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade audiences. Brendan Byers is the artistic director and Patricia Fagan is the educational director. At Saturday’s auditions, Byers will be looking for male and female actors, age 18 and up, who are available for daytime performances on weekdays. All positions will be paid, and actors will receive a contract at their first rehearsal. Auditionees should bring a wallet-size photo to the audition, and be prepared to read from a script.
