New to heated grips ... When i got my E6 it was fitted with heated grips ... that didnt work. LED lit but no heat. So being a sparkie I grabbed the multi meter did a little investigation, found that the heaters were not shorted and measured 15 Ohms. Fine so the controller is shagged, loads of them on ebay so assume a common issue. So a year later i finally gets around to buying a controller and trying to get grips to heat. The original controller was a rotary switch, I got an Oxford V8, the connectors didnt match ;-( Out come the wire cutters, followed by a little butchery involving choc blocks and wire strippers. Yea, now they work. But Im a little disappointed at how hot they actually get ;-( Bearing in mind that they should heat through gloves, I would have thought they would get very hot to an un gloved hand. They do get warm but comfortable to the hand to hold, continuously. I have two questions. A How hot to the naked hand touch should heated grips get B Does anyone know the resistance of the Oxford set of heated grips Cos if its lower than 15 Ohms i know why i have less heat. I know i dont have matching controller and grips from same manufacturer.
