New to the group. My second BC is almost 11 now. She was a rescue. My first BC was given to me by my best friend. She (the dog) died suddenly 8-1/2 years of hemangiosarcoma. I held her since the day she she was born. I was in a deep depression. Now I have Chloe. A rescue, returned to foster care 3 times, I found out later. Later I found out the sponsors husband said do you think shell keep her? I had taken Chloe home for a weekend trial. It was no trial for me. I wanted her from the minute I saw her. Her strong personality was not a problem for me. The first day I got her, a snowy day February (17th), I kept her on lead to take her to the backyard for a potty. I knew she was a strong-willed runaway. She saw a squirrel on top of the privacy fence, face-planted me in the snow and dragged me 40 feet. We immediately had an alpha understanding, right there in the snow, Im sure the neighbors were watching. Later that night, I was reading a magazine and watching TV, on the sofa. Chloe had been in the den playing with her toys. She jumped over the arm of the sofa, sidled up to me with a toy in her mouth, leaned against my shoulder and pressed the toy on my face. She surrendered. I was her alpha. We have been best buds for 11 years now! We read each others minds. All we have to do is look at each other. Chloe is darling!
