New & up and coming Steppin Promoters you are in the process of learning a valuable lesson...the old and established guard amongst the Steppin Promoters WILL NOT support the new kid on the block in particularly if they feel you havent come through THEIR ranks, garnered THEIR permission, given THEM some sort of control of your project (use their established DJs, MCs, workshop instructors or THEIR promotional concepts (charging a price for everything including a seat at a table)...These people will smile in your face, shake your hand and in some cases give you a hug while secretly conducting silent boycotts of your events, ripping apart your dance instead of offering constructive criticism and spreading rumors that your success is the result of the failure of other established events....Brother youve learned a lot but you also got a lot to learn in this cutthroat Steppin Game as you wander down the well traveled road of Steppin Promotions...over the years Ive studied the game and its players and found out that I could never win playing THEIR game in THEIR house governed by THEIR rules so what Ive done is altered the game to fit my Spirit, Character, Personality, Morals & Values...I then sprinkled in the historical element by honoring the ( ones forgotten by their successors) legends of Steppin, Changed the focus from spotlighting certain people as VIP and made everyone in attendance VIP STATUS by offering everyone an event badge and open FREE seating & one Price of admission to the event that grants ALL ACCESS to everything offered...My Promotional Concept is totally out of the scope & realm of what the ESTABLISHMENT has to offer so you already know that it was attacked and scorned but in most cases THE VISION is way ahead of the times and the people will eventually catch up...In the end the ones who started out running in the race ahead of you are suddenly looking at your backside never realizing (because of foolish pride ) how youve passed them by...Keep your head up and never lose focus that the bottom line is about integrity and community building...Peace & Blessings
