New year resolution? To have the courage to always object when people use dark in a negative way, when talking to me. The English language is so full of bs about dark. An entire language is constructed to put down Africans who are dark. Dark thoughts, dark places, dark this dark that. What is going on? Im dark, guys. And Im not all that bad. Its bad enough when Anglos use dark as negative. But when Black people do the same--with poetic inflections--what sort of self-destruction is this?
