Newbie/Stupid questions alert! So this is my first year, I am going to plant winter onion sets in the bed which had broad beans, sweetcorn and french beans, they like fertile soil but not recently manured. How do I ensure there is enough fertility without manure? Or should my soil be ok, and if feeding what should I feed them? Oh and second stupid question, I got some broad beans that can be winter planted, do I sow direct or in cells under cover? do the onions and beans need protection from the extreme cold? never grown anything over winter before, I am actually quite excited so I want to be sure its right. Thanks - I think my head is going to explode with all these questions, unfortunately books sometimes assume you know and I really dont!
