Newborn saved before being buried alive after MG hospital doctors declare baby dead: In a major lapse on the part of Mahatma Gandhi District Hospital in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan, the staff at the hospital declared a new-born baby dead while handing it over to the parents when actually the baby was alive. They made the parents fill up a form which read that they are taking away the childs corpse with them. Mandalgarh native Pappus 22-year-old wife Gujri gave birth to a 7-month premature new born baby on Thursday. The Labour room staff at Mahatma Gandhi hospital said the 7-month-old baby was born dead. Parents were informed that the baby did not survive, reported Dainik Bhaskar. After filling up forms and completing formalities, the heart-broken parents started preparations for babys cremation but on the way to the village they realised that the baby was breathing. As soon as the new born babys grandmother (Gujris mother) picked up the baby, she saw the babys eyes moving slightly and could feel the child was breathing. They rushed back to the hospital where the staff immediately took the baby with them to NICU and said the child was breathing. Staff said our child was dead. I thought was carying a dead body in my hands. We were on our way to the cremation ground when I sensed movement. If we would not have figured out, we would have killed our child with our own hands, said Prem Devi Gurjar, new-born babys grandmother. Now, the condition of the child is stable. In one minute, a childs heart bears 120-140 times. Sometimes, its so slow that during electronic check-up, the results depict the child is dead. But as the baby gets more oxygen, the body produces hormones. A new-born should never be declared minutes after birth. We cant trust nurses, doctors should take responsibilty, Retd Child Specialist Doctor Rajesh Chapparwal told Dainik Bhaskar.
