Newhouse Charges to the front in the first ever “Blowing Up The Dirt” at Atomic Motor Raceway in Atomic City Idaho. For immediate release Pr at ASA Pro Trucks June 22nd 2013 Atomic City Idaho ASA Pro Truck made their very first venture off road and onto the dirt for “Blowing up the Dirt” at Atomic Motor Raceway. The high-banked third mile dirt track sits just down the road from the nuclear power plant known as Idaho National Engineering Laboratory. With a population of less than thirty (yes 30 people) the town is usually a quiet place. That changed Saturday night as the ASA Pro Trucks made the trek down the two lane highways to a race track that appears to have a small town built around it. Clem Metz promoter of Atomic Motor Raceway and ASA Pro Truck Series Director Randy Kerr agreed to hold an open Friday night practice for the Pro Trucks and stagger those sessions in the mix of a two day race show. Only a hand full of drivers made the Friday night practice. That practice proved to be a huge benefit to those that took advantage where none of the competitors in the series had ever competed at a dirt track. The driver that benefited the most was Johnny “Be Good” Newhouse, Newhouse took what he learned from the practice and applied to his race day setup taking the win in his heat race and main event. “The practice yesterday was huge for us. The truck was really starting to go away and Kendel (Woll) was all over me, I made it as wide as I could. This dirt racing is a blast,” Newhouse told the fans from the winners circle. Woll slid his way to a second place finish in the main event. Woll spent the final six laps dicing with Newhouse for the lead but fell short by less than a truck length. While trying to make a move on Newhouse, Hannah Newhouse started the pressure on Woll a couple bump and run moves on Woll during the last three laps had fans on their feel cheering as the three drivers swapped paint all the way around the track. Hannah daughter to race winner John told race fans from her third place podium finish “This dirt racing is awesome. I want to come back and do it again, but I need to work out first my arms are about to fall off. This was so much fun” Series point leader “JP” Johnny Pierre came into the event six points ahead of Hannah Newhouse in the battle for the championship. After his fourth place finish that lead dwindled to four points. “I’m just glad we finished where we did and I’m glad we were able to keep the point lead, Hannah’s tough she has been all year” Pierre told us as he swept the dirt out of the trailer before he loaded his truck. Drew Reitsma look like he would be the driver to beat winning his heat race and adapting his driving style as the track changed. Reitsma being in the wrong place at the wrong time sent the driver to the pit area for repairs twice in the scheduled forty-lap main event possibly costing him the win. “Man I was really hanging it out there that was a blast. I really wish we would have had a better finish. We defiantly had a great truck”. Reitsma took home a fifth place finish holding off rookie Jesse Anderson by a fender at the checkered flag. John Newhouse took home the Century Motorsports and Marine event champion bonus while Kendel Woll and Hannah Newhouse shared the Sleep Solutions bonus. The Thompson Motorsports bonuses were shared between Johnny Pierre and Drew Reitsma. The top three finishers from this event are eligible for the Agri-Service bonus as the ASA Pro Truck series takes to Pocatello Raceway July 13, 2013 in Pocatello Idaho.
