Newhouse and Didier each want to shrink the federal government’s size and spending. Didier’s argument is rooted in a philosophy of constitutional originalism that views the current federal government as not only spending beyond its means, but eroding the principles of the nation’s founders in the process. “Nobody is living within the confines of what they were given in the Constitution,” Didier said of the president, federal courts and Congress at a Tri-Cities candidate forum Sept. 24. Newhouse agrees in principle that the government is too big, saying the first piece of legislation he would propose is a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution to rein in spending. CLINT DIDIER wants the federal government to live within the confines of the Constitution. Dan Newhouse wants to amend the Constitution. If this makes Didier extreme, then the greatest government experience the world has ever known, America the Republic, has been a complete failure and a waste of over 200 years of time. yakimaherald/home/2544636-8/4th-district-candidates-highlight-their-differences-as-race
