Newly Emerging and Re-emerging Zoonosis: With the recent outbreak of Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever in West Africa and the reported spread of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Virus (MERS Virus) to North America emerging zoonosis are once again making global media headlines. However it is worth noting that the phenomenon of human and animal health interaction is not new, but the scope, scale and worldwide impact of zoonosis today is unprecedented in history. Globalization, industrialization, restructuring of agricultural system and consumerism among others are conducive to the appearance of emerging disease and greatly increases their impact.
