Newly formed Gulfshore Opera launches season The newly formed Gulfshore Opera is committed to presenting the finest in opera theater and classical vocal performances to Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties. The debut concert has a fresh new approach and affordable ticket prices that make the great art form of opera inclusive and accessible. The Viva Verdi concert will include over 100 performers — five thrilling soloists, full orchestra and chorus — all enhanced by subtitled translations, scenic imagery and live video camera projections in the hall providing “Live in HD” style close-ups. Concert dates are as folows: • Nov. 6, Thursday, North Naples Church at 7:30 p.m. • Nov. 8, Saturday, Charlotte County Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. • Nov. 9, Sunday, Harbourside Event Center, Fort Myers, at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $25 to $75. The repertoire will highlight powerful and passionate moments of Verdi’s most famous works, namely: Rigoletto, La Traviata, Il Trovatore and Messa da Requiem. Other great moments of Verdi opera in this concert include highlights from La Forza del Destino: the famous overture performed by the Gulfshore Opera orchestra under the baton of Maestro Paul Nadler, and the aria Pace Mio Dio performed by Gulfshore Opera Founder and soprano, Steffanie Pearce. The GO chorus, prepared by Musical Director and Chorus Master, Dr. Trent Brown, will perform some of opera’s greatest melodies, including the Anvil chorus and Va Pensiero. Paul Nadler is an exciting and highly respected symphonic and operatic conductor whose career has taken him to over 50 cities on three continents. Since his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1989, he has led that company in more than 60 performances. In February, Maestro Nadler conducts performances of Die Fledermaus with Rene Fleming and Rusalka with Placido Domingo. The Gulfshore Opera is a newly formed non-profit organization that engages a balance ensemble of high quality national and international professionals, regional performers, young artists and community members. GO has a mission to make opera accessible to the general public and to introduce the art form to new, diverse audiences, including youth. As part of the “accessibility” commitment, ticket prices are very moderate, with most performances offering a $25 ticket. By serving a much larger three-county region, the company projects significant ticket revenues due to volume sales. A strong core of seasoned opera professionals guide the company vision and productions, relying on the acumen of business professionals as needed. Gulfshore Opera has planned a very exciting 2014–15 inaugural season with a lineup of 11 performances and three dinners. The various performance venues include: the prestigious Artis-Naples in Collier County, the new Bonita Center for the Performing Arts, the grand Harbourside Event Center in the beautifully redeveloped River District in downtown Fort Myers and the lovely Charlotte Performing Arts Center in Punta Gorda.
