News Alert!!!.............Wow!! (Must read) The NBPA represents law enforcement officers and staff across the UK and Northern Ireland, some of whom may be called upon to assist with the enforcement of immigration laws alongside UK Border Agency Officials. Whilst the NBPA support the proper enforcement of immigration laws, we are deeply concerned about recent developments whereby allegations have been made about apparent Racial Profiling of Black and Asian members of the public going about their normal business. Our advice to our members and indeed to all law enforcement officers, is that whilst it is important that laws are enforced, we must ensure that we consider the context within which these actions are taken. We welcome the intervention of Equality and Human Rights Commission on this matter. It is therefore for leaders within the police service and most importantly each individual officer to carefully consider their own actions, to ensure that as a Police Service, we are acting within the very best principles of our democracy and the law. We must therefore completely reject any element of Racial Profiling within our law enforcement and play no part in this type of unlawful policing, if and where it exists.
