News Brief: For Immediate Release: March 13, 2014 Esther said to Mordechai, “Go gather together all the Jews!” (Esther, 4:16) - Jerusalem Jews Gather in Solidarity at Massive Pre-Purim Shabbat Lunch Planned on Jerusalem Train Tracks this Week Every Shabbat in Jerusalem, families and friends come together to eat cholent or chamin, and bask in the glory of the day of rest. But this Shabbat a group of young Jerusalemites are planning to shake things up a bit. This Shabbat, March 15th, 12:00 noon, will witness a massive, open “Shabbat of Unity” lunch on the train tracks on Jaffa Street, Jerusalem. Hundreds of Jews from all walks of life will come together to eat, sing, connect, dance and celebrate the day of rest in unison, in preparation for the miraculous holiday of Purim. The intention of the organizers is: To strengthen and grow in our friendships, laughter, gratitude, holiness and Torah wisdom, and to include everyone equally - with joy, love and lots of sweet song! LKavod Shabbat and Purim Kodesh. As Esther said to Mordechai: ”Go gather together all the Jews!” (Esther, 4:16) And through this act of solidarity and unconditional love, the Purim miracle was actualized. So, in the spirit of Purim, to reenact the miracles and the redemption, Bayamim Hahem Bizman Hazeh (Al HaNisim Prayer), everyone is invited to gather and rejoice together. From the Basta owners in the Shuk, to the yeshiva and seminary students; from the employees of your favorite shops, to the bureaucratic officers of your “not so favorite” government offices; from the Egged bus drivers, to your neighbors down the street; from our soldiers fighting on the front lines, to anyone and everyone else you see and meet before Shabbat. Bring your friends, your colleagues, your family, and, also bring those who are not yet your friends, colleagues, and family. Open your hearts, and come to celebrate and unify together with your Jewish brothers and sisters this Shabbat! For more details, check out the Facebook page HERE! This is a volunteer run so donations are needed and gratefully accepted. If you can contribute to our event, please visit Jewish Unity Project’s website HERE! Shabbat Shalom and Happy Purim!
