News From Delta!!! The Headlines: - The Delta State Governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has urged countries to collectively step up actions to stem the tide of terrorism in Nigeria and other parts of the globe. Governor Uduaghan while receiving a team of foreign defence advisers and attaches to Nigeria on a courtesy call in Asaba on Tuesday commended the international communities for the support it was given Nigeria in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency, noting that it was a global menace. - The Delta Government has charged Host communities in the state to always maintain peace, promising to always support them in ensuring they benefit all they deserve as Host Communities. The charge was given by the State Commissioner for Oil and Gas Mr. Mofe Pirah during a meeting with the three Host Communities of the Otumara Gas Plant. - Another batch of 64 persons from Oil an Gas Host Communities of Ughelli North and Ethiope East Council Areas have been presented starter packs to enable them earn a living. The DESOPADEC Commissioner for Ughelli North and Ethiope East Chief Ominimini Obiuwevwi who presented the starter packs to the recipients said it was part of the Commissions effort to ensure youths of the Host Communities shun violence and other vices inimical to development. - The Staff of the Delta Steel Company DSC Ovwian/ Aladja have appealed to the Federal Government to pay their salaries and other benefits of over two years. The DSC Staff made the appeal on Tuesday while trying to seek audience with the AMCON receiving Manager to DSC Chief Ajibola Aregbesola who visited the Company. The workers who waited for several hours for Chief Aregbesola at the Steel Plant Complex for Chief Aregbesola to address them about the state of their salaries and other benefits which have not been paid since 2012, but to their disappointment after waiting under the sun in the afternoon rain, AMCON receiving Manager intentionally zoomed pass them. Some of the Staff appealed to Federal Government to intervene on the situation to alleviate their plights. - All members of the State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and Chairmen of the Party in the 25 Local Government Areas of the State have been invited for a crucial meeting on Friday 13th June 2014 at the State Secretariat of the party in Asaba A statement by the State Public Secretary of the Party Mr. Deinghen Macaulay says the meeting schedule to be at noon is mandatory for all being invited officially. Mr Macaulay adds that the only agenda for the meeting is the Local Government Election. - The Isoko South LGA Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees(NULGE). has appealed to the State Government to prevail on the Isoko South Council authority to pay workers two months of outstanding salaries. Members of NULGE Isoko South rising from an emergency meeting at the Council Secretariat in Oleh resolved that the council remains shut indefinitely until their salaries are paid. - Media practitioners in the state have been implored to discharge their duties with the fear of God. The Bishop of Gospel Church of Christ Dr. Eric Emiaso stated this at a media practitioners appreciation dinner. He disclosed that the media practitioners appreciation dinner was put together in obedience to Gods directive. The head of programmes Department of DBS Warri Mrs. Pat Ero Bivbere and Assistant General Manager News DBS Warri Pastor Malcolm Oteri sang special numbers at the ceremony. - Super Eagles Captain Joseph Yobo has urged Nigeria football fans to support the nations football team during the World Cup tournament . Yobo said he is confident that the team will do well at the 2014 FIFA Mundia in Brazil.
