News: Hong Kong stocks closed 0.62 percent higher Friday, with a surge in telecomm #UN ication stocks -- prompted by gains in #China Mobile -- lifting the benchmark index to a six-year high. The #HangSengIndex rose 153 points to 24,954 by the close of play on turnover of #HK $69.11 billion. The Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.92 percent, or 20.26 points, to 2,226.73 on turnover of 129.4 billion yuan. The index gained 1.47 percent over the week.
