News Release: On September 18, 2013, the Herkimer Police Department received a telephone call from a Herkimer High School official reporting a student made an alarming verbal threat against the school and then left the building in an unknown direction. The Herkimer Police Department provided an immediate response, securing the school and searching the area to locate the individual. As a precautionary measure, the Herkimer High School was directed to place the school on lock down until the individual was located and interviewed which was successfully executed by the high school in accordance to established safety plans. The individual was located a short time later by the Herkimer Police Department and an interview was conducted. Action was taken by the Herkimer Police Department and the Herkimer High School in relationship to the individual, which will not be disclosed.
