News Update: 20/07/14 Russia is still not playing nice with the rest of the world. The EU is wondering whether or not to reconsider its relatively diplomatic approach to Russias actions. Ukraine has stated that it has proof of Russias involvement with the BUK missile platform used to shoot MH-17 down. Americas response has been to give Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova non-NATO ally status. This allows transfer of military assistance to Ukraine(i.e. Anti-tank, anti-air and small arms.) Australias response is largely symbolic, but very important, in that it has said it will ban Russia from the G20 summit in Brisbane. (Finally Abbott has done something the Australian public approves of) The US has added 1.5 million terrorists to its databases, with acceptance numbers continuing to grow. This has caused a number of issues with those added to the list with no real explanation provided. Israel is still blowing up tunnels in Gaza. This follows a release about the 13 soldiers that snuck through the tunnels a few days ago: IDF uniformed Hamas soldiers who it is theorised were going to go on a killing spree in Israeli communities to stir up unrest. Operation Protective Edge has killed 342 people so far. Two HIV positive men treated with bone marrow transplants have lost large proportions of the virus reservoir. Ray Brown, has been HIV free for 6 years without Anti-retroviral therapy after receiving marrow from a person with genes thought to resist the virus. This could be the key to new treatments, but the transplant itself is not viable due to high mortality (~10%).
