News Update!!: Needles, CA: U.S. 95 is reopened after Wednesdays fatal accident. As of 10:00pm PT of Wednesday, November 5th, 2014, the California Highway Patrol tells ZachNews that both directions of U.S. 95 has been reopened. This reopening of U.S. 95 comes hours after both directions of U.S. 95 was closed from Safari Drive just south of Interstate 40 in Needles, California to Vidal Junction, California after a fatal accident occurred at around 11:00am PT on Wednesday, November 5th, 2014. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, San Bernardino County Fire Department, Baker Emergency Medical Services, and California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) all rushed to the incident. According to the California Highway Patrol, a person was pinned inside the vehicle and that person later died. According to California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), Route 95 (U.S. 95) near Needles, California is closed completely for 8 to 10 hours from 5 Mile Road near Airport Road near Needles, California to reportedly as far as to Vidal Junction, California because of this fatal accident. All traffic including truck traffic was stopped and were asked to turned around at Safari Drive in Needles, California. No further information has been release regarding the identification of the victim in the fatal accident, or what caused the fatal accident.
