News from BES: On Friday, September 26, BES celebrated its first school spirit day of the year. At the end of each month, students show their pride for BES by wearing blue and gold (or yellow) and their Burr Gear. Spirit Day will be October 24 this month, since the last Friday is Halloween. Last week, one of our third graders, Ivy McNiel, raised $250 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, by promoting a hat day at our school. Altogether, she raised $860 in her participation in JDRF’s Walk for the Cure in West Hartford last Sunday. Way to go, Ivy!
