News from the Eighth Grade The curriculum studied this year by the Eighth Graders is Confirmed in the Spirit by Loyola Press. It is a comprehensive and flexible sacramental preparation program designed to welcome and form our eighth graders as they grow in faith and embrace their roles as disciples of Jesus Christ. New catechists, Dan Edgar and Kathleen Koenig as his aide have encouraged discussion and personal witness in the eighth grade class. Dan has touched the hearts of the students with his teaching style. The students have been studying how to put God’s Commandments, the Beatitudes and Christ’s new commandment to love one another into practice. The object is to learn how to be a Catholic in everyday life. Discussions have centered on how students can use their conscience to identify right from wrong, the problem of going along with the crowd, and making decisions by default. The theme for the seventh and eight graders has been the importance of leading with their good conscience and not following the crowd. The emphasis this Fall has been placed on what it takes to be a responsible Catho- lic. Confirmation this year for these eighth graders is Saturday, March 21st at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral. Our new Bishop Daniel Thomas will confirm the following students: Addison Barta, Nathan Borgio, Ryan Gwin, Jenna Hafemeister, Cassie Klaehn, Kyndra Koenig and Tug Tibbels. Please keep these students, sponsors and their families in your prayers.
