News from the farm: the clean-up rams have been put in; using a leftover yearling Suffolk for the majority of the Suffolk ewes and Pendleton the CVM Romedale in with the black fines. Next week we might put in another yearling in with the thin/old ewes as we took the ram out of their pen for the other two combined pens. Yes, we may be lambing into June. But late lambs are better than no lambs, and this year we will hopefully not be in a crisis right at breeding time. Cleo once again moved her puppies from the pool to the chair. Christopher Sherman is reluctant to force the issue with the exercise pen/fence. we have also determined that she has 10 teats, and came in to milk good enough to keep the puppies full enough for now, so supplemental milk hasnt been needed. Shes eating about 3x her normal quantity. Expensive puppies! Hilda the Nigerian Dwarf doe has a very full udder and pointy teats, so we may have goaties soon.
