News of our Scilly fishy policing problem has evidently spread far and wide. Officer Lisa Buese of Olathe Police Department in Kansas in the USA heard of our serial Goldfish kidnap crimes. Despite these times of austerity the good people of Olathe have spared an officer to assist us on Scilly. He arrived unannounced from The States and was immediately detailed with the sole responsibility of guarding the pond on St Marys where the fish were stolen from. He is the first officer in modern times to police Scilly who is not from Devon and Cornwall Police. If any folks from Kansas City are reading this then “Thanks Yawl for sparing Officer “Rubber” Duck”. We are a small group of island a short distance off the coast of Cornwall. Cornwall is a county of England. England is a country in Europshire. Europe is ………you get the point. There are only three Police Officers here along with a Police Community Support Officer, two Special Constables and a station cat called Mowgli. 2200 people live here compared to your 125,000 in Olathe. Nobody has to go more than a mile to reach the sea* whereas you have to go 800 miles to catch a mackerel. Temperatures here plummet to a nearly as low as 50 Farenheight (10C) at times in the deepest winter and some people have to resort to long trousers and winter flip flops just to stay warm. We do not suffer much tumble weed like you do but wind blown seaweed is often strewn about the main streets. Despite our differences we clearly share a sense of humour. https://facebook/OlathePoliceDepartment Colin *The sea is an expanse of wetland which is salty with waves.
