News on Next BAILA Roundtable: First, thanks to everyone who attended the BAILA (Black Allies in Los Angeles) roundtable discussion on the MicroAgressions of Racism in Academia (across the board), during my MFA Thesis Exhibition. Im attaching a picture of the panelist here who specialize in various fields of academia, including visual arts, art history, curatorial practices, medicine and law. Please mark your calendars: our next BAILA (Black Artists in Los Angeles) roundtable has been confirmed for Wednesday, August 20, 2014, from 10am - 1 pm with the Getty at the Getty. They will provide free parking for us at the museum. The meeting will be with the curators and directors of the Getty Research Institute and Museum and will focus on how the Getty functions and how the programs and resources they offer might benefit us. Admission is free. There is no charge and no donation. We are only taking reservations for the first 90 people in order to keep the roundtable circular and intimate. After we reach 90, we will start a wait list. If you DEFINITELY plan on attending, please RSVP here and now with your complete name. Only do so if you are sure you can attend, because I imagine that the RSVP list for this roundtable will fill up fast. Also, if you think I dont have your email address, please either inbox it to me or include it in your RSVP here. Also, please start sending me your recommended questions for the Getty so that we can start collecting and curating them -- and so that I can forward the list of curated questions to the Getty, at least a week before the roundtable.
