Newsletter - 25th September CONGRATULATIONS TO EMMA JENSEN Congratulations to Emma Jensen in achieving another milestone in her playing career. She played her 50th match for the Auckland Storm ITM Women’s team against Manawatu in the weekend and celebrated with a good win 18-13. A great achievement. View her article on the Auckland Rugby Website by clicking here. FOUR NATIONS RUGBY – WALES WALES WALES Yes Wales won the 10th Four Nations Tournament comprehensively beating Scotland. Meanwhile Ireland defeated England to come in second. In the 10 Years the Cup has been won by Ireland & Scotland (3 each), England & Wales (2 Each). Each team kept their jerseys to mark the occasion. The tournament is now under review for 2014 with the format if any to be decided early next year. LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS The C&R Team (Citizens & Ratepayers) on the Orakei Local Board would appreciate your support. The members are: Desley Simpson, Ken Baguley, Troy Churton, Kate Cooke, Colin Davis, Kit Parkinson, & Mark Thomas. It was the C&R Ticket under the then Mayor John Banks that helped College Rifles with a grant of $750,000 to upgrade our fields to artificial in 2008. The C&R Ticket, if elected will say they continue to develop projects that are in the progress at Koraha Reserve, Liston Park & Colin Maiden Park. As members we must all keep pressure on the Local Board to honour their intentions. College Rifles has more members than Ellerslie & Eastern Bays Soccer combined, yet they are getting millions spent on their facilities where we have over 5000 field users on 2 fields and have the added costs of maintaining our fields, paying rates, & water etc. We must ensure that Liston Park is retained by Rugby & Koraha Reserve is developed. Please support the C&R Ticket, but make your voice heard. SEVENS We had an amazing turnout on Monday as the Sevens Season kicked off with over 25 players from all different grades.
