Newsletter for The First Christian Church and Friends Liberty, KY November 23, 2014 Prayer was requested for the family of Mildred Coffman during their time of loss. Prayer was also requested for Andrew Wethington, Dorothy Evans, Bruce Cleavenger, Tom Theriot, and Jonathan Thompson. Gratitude was expressed for both our Church and Ken Cundiffs successful surgery. Ken and Tishana Cundiff thank the congregation for their generous outpouring of love and support for Heather Cundiff as she serves in Ethiopia with Peace Corps. Suzanne LaFavers led the childrens sermon reminding us of our many blessings, including food, and the needs of many within our community. Members were encouraged to donate food items to the Food Pantry at The Gathering Place by bringing food items to church each week. Worship & Wonders focus was How the Church Tells Time. The childrens choir presented, He Has Made Me Glad (I Will Enter His Gates, and the choir presented, A Thanksgiving Prayer. There will be no church activities this Wednesday as we prepare our hearts for Thanksgiving. Thanks to all who joined for Sundays informal lunch and decorating our church in preparation for Advent. Disciples Women will host a Bake Sale on Tuesday, November 25 in the fellowship hall. The event will begin at 9:00 and go as long as items are available. Our church will join the congregations of the Methodist, Westside, & Sacred Heart churches in providing a Community Thanksgiving meal. Anyone preparing a dessert is asked to deliver it to the church by Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 or to the Masonic Lodge by 11:00 AM on Thursday. Members are asked to contact Billie Roark to inform her of any items being brought. Hanging of the Greens will be celebrated on the first Sunday of Advent, November 30, during morning worship. We will join the Liberty United Methodist Church to host a piano concert in our sanctuary featuring pianist, Tom Stamfli on Sunday, November 30, at 7:00 that evening. Members are asked to contact Tishana Cundiff if willing to bring a dessert for the reception following this concert. Disciples Women will host a Christmas Luncheon on Saturday, December 6, at noon in the fellowship hall. Speak to Suzanne LaFavers if willing to bring an item to add to the menu.
