Newstart is not an appropriate payment for a sole parent family! Newstart isnt even liveable as a single unployed person in todays society - let alone a family with only one parent. Newstart is NO START for a mum with kids escaping domestic violence. Newstart is an unemployment benefit - when the majority of single parents ARE already working or studying! And they were doing that before they were compelled by the nonsense known as mutual obligation. We have lost our value as parents as soon as our youngest turns eight, as far asgovernnents are concerned. No consideration of our demanding obligations and responsibilities, the financial strain we already face on welfare, our high representation in the workforce and education system - the majority of us are working to the best capacity we can - but its not enough in the eyes of the govgovernment. I am so angry and so sick of hearing all of the endless tragedies of sole parents in immensely stressful and desperate circumstances. This insanity must stop! We want pur pensions back, we want our parenting rights back! We are more than just tax file numbers, we are raising the next generation!!! Parenting Payments for Parents NOT Newstart!!! Im not packing up until its reinstated!!
