Next Babysitting Class is Saturday, March 15th! There is no class in April, so next one will be in May! Call 586-5119 to register and save your spot! Included: Learn Amn Heart Association CPR and AED taught by an RN (also learn why, not just how), basic first aid taught by KFD EMTs, a babysitting resume, babysitting emergency information sheet, Babysitting Handbook, CPR handbook, and a card showing participation. Even if your child is not going to be babysitting, they also learn valuable skills about safety and being alone. One of the instructors, Melissa Brooks RN, has experience with children with special needs and with kids who just learn differently and would love to make necessary accommodations, but please let us know in advance. Babysitting Workshop The class is taught by trained instructors and covers a variety of babysitting topics, including essential safety strategies, how to calm a baby, how to entertain children of different ages, how to deal with injuries and emergencies, tips for setting up a babysitting business, and more. During the course, students get hands-on practice in basic lifesaving techniques so that they are prepared to act in a crisis. KPD and KFD also come and speak about safety. They need to bring a doll (if accessible) for diaper changing practice and a lunch. Snacks and water will be provided.
