Next Chapter..... The time has come to announce that an incredible seven-year journey has reached its end. appssavvy, a company I co-founded from my apartment in late 2007 with Michael Burke will be shutting down its doors. While the legacy and DNA of the business, including myself, will be joining ironSource, a high flying tech & software company out of Israel, business as we know it has ended. appssavvy was a pioneer in digital advertising. In fact our name itself was way beyond its time. We paved the way for brand advertising in apps and social games in 2008, paid tens-of-millions to app developers over the years and generated over $70 million in revenue since conception. Im most proud of the fact it was our company which pushed the industry first to think about the user experience, working closely with the publisher community to consider utility, timing and context as drivers in advertising. Many other companies practice this today. We were always early and ahead of the market, which isnt always a good thing, and the people who worked here loved that we pushed the boundaries of what brands would buy. We were far from safe and traditional. Speaking of people, our company enabled lots of people to grow personally and professionally, and many friendships started at appssavvy. In fact out of the 100+ people that worked at appssavvy over the years all of them have moved their careers forward and are doing incredible things today. Im proud of them all and so honored I had a chance to work with such a great team I also have to call out our partners in the developer community, the agencies and the brands. The incredible application developers both in Facebook and mobile who gave us a chance and worked with us over the years buying into our vision. It’s great to see many of them exit their business, have grown to scale and or build their own sales channels since our initial partnerships. If it wasnt for the trust brands and agencies put in our business model we couldnt have started our company. We are lucky to have worked with all the major brands and agencies over the years, and have had the pleasure to work with many smart individuals willing to think outside the banner. Also, wanted to call out our investors, both the angels who took the bet when we started the company off a cocktail napkin and the strategic and late-stage guys. All of them took a chance on our vision and we as people which is such an honor and we are forever grateful. Im thrilled about my new role leading Mobile in the US mobilecore and driving further success with a great company. Today we announced some huge news, securing close to $100mm in pre-IPO capital to scale and grow our mobile business. techcrunch/2014/09/23/ironsource/ venturebeat/2014/09/23/mobile-ad-delivery-startup-ironsource-nabs-85m/ From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who supported us over the years and can only hope to return the favor one day. See you in the next chapter! Chris
