Next-generation Bush cruises to primary victory FORT WORTH — Addressing more than 100 supporters, George P. Bush accepted the Republican nomination in the state land commissioner race on Tuesday night. Bush is the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and the nephew of former President George W. Bush. His grandfather is former President George H.W. Bush. The 37-year-old is making his first venture into politics. Bush quickly acknowledged his family and supporters, and also spoke in Spanish twice during a brief speech at Joe T. Garcia’s restaurant in Fort Worth. His mother is from Mexico. We don’t need to change our conservative principles to win… we just need to change our tactics, he said. Bush jumped out to an early lead as the primary voting results were released. He was typically ahead of fellow Republican David Watts by 75 to 25 percent. Bush is an attorney, and currently runs an energy consulting business in Fort Worth. Asked if his father offered any advice on his campsign, the younger Bush said he always told me to outhustle my opponent. Bush is the fourth generation of his family to jump into politics.
