Next grammatical pet peeve: comprised of. Comprise means to consist of or to be made up of. So when you say something is comprised of, youre saying it consists of of. The whole comprises its parts, e.g., the solar system comprises the sun and eight major planets. Personally Id like to see the word comprise stricken from the language. Its rare that it adds any value over consists of, and even the most highly educated people dont understand it or use it correctly.
