Next on my agenda I want to tackle is the firefighter incentive - TopicsExpress

Next on my agenda I want to tackle is the firefighter incentive program, which is listed under Firefighter Reimbursement on page 28 of the budget for $125,000. delranfire.org/docDownload.php?did=211 I see the need to reimburse the volunteers as they pay for gas to get to and from the station for calls and for cloths that might get ruined but I don’t agree with the how much individuals can get which can amount in the multiple of thousands of dollars. This was done to help retain and reward volunteers. A volunteer who is there for the right reasons is not there for that check, they are there to give back to the community. I would like to reallocate at least $50,000 of this money and put it towards things we need like turnout gear. Turnout gear is the pants and jacket that firefighters wear that protect them in fires. We can take this money and move us forward with turnout gear replacement. In the past some of the juniors members which are under 18 years of age have received some of these checks in the multiple thousands of dollars. I’m not sure if this is still happening today but I promise to look at the point system for this program and make adjustments where needed. I also want to make this transparent on how points are calculated and show each members point total achieved and how they achieved those points to all the membership. This will leave the mystery out of how each members point total was calculated to everyone.
