Next person who walks into my shop n tells me to do some work is going to get punched in the face. It may be a joke to you guys, but for us managers working in retail, its bloody hard. We dont get to play with clothes all day except for unpacking and folding or hanging up what someone has trashed out of a display. We deal with staff shortages, huge targets, slow trade days, staff training while trying to merchandise a store with no help apart from the amazing staff we have who are doing their best to support us so we can make their work place somewhere enjoyable to work in. And to top it all off, we have to be on our A game from start to finish, to be awesome leaders in what we do and sometimes deal with some of the most bloody difficult people that exist. Im not saying my job is harder than yours, what Im saying is, next time u want to tell me to do some work, have a think about how many hours Ive already done this week, how many days straight Ive worked, how many lunch breaks Ive had to miss, how many times a customer has been rude, how many boxes of stock Ive unpacked, how many times Ive changed the store around to suit a product move, how many times Ive changed a roster to help staff a store and how many time Ive wanted a bathroom break but have forgotten to take one for about two hours cos Ive been busy? 9.9 chances out of ten, all Ive done is work.
