Next project: Build a generator. Looking into getting a few DC Motors from a scrap yard and also pick up an inverter and a gas motor. Seems simple, but many steps to complete and need to dig into this further. Hoping to be able to produce enough current to run the house including the furnace which operates on 220V. Will see.... will see. I will probably do this in a NOTES format so that others will be able to benefit from this project as well. Lots of stuff out there on the web such as eHow and YouTube. Also, other online resources available. Main thing.... I can read all about it, but until I have actually done it, the notion is just a concept. When it is actually producing current and of sufficient levels, only then is it time to hook it up to the main input on the house. My nephew who is a certified electrician will be able to help with that one. Not looking for any ' auto switch ' features, but will install some type of selector box.
