Next up comes My Neighbor Totoro at #9. Original post: Despite being so low on this list, My Neighbor Totoro is still a really good film. Its magical in all the right places, it plays to Miyazakis strengths, just not better than his other films do. What I liked most about this movie was probably the two main girls, particularly Satsuki (the older sister). She was a smart and brave and likable older sister that did a good job at spending time with and caring for her little sister. What I liked second most was how the movie dealt with drama, and how close to tragedy it dared to go for a childrens movie. Everything really from the characters to the music to the art was pretty great in this movie, not a whole lot of complaints...again, they just werent as great as they are in his other films.
