Next week at the JCC in Sherman. from Adelka Polak! Recycle Your Pants" (RYP) is a fun way for people to learn how to sew by reimagining old clothes into something creative and new. This program is a wonderful way to learn basic sewing skills and to "upcycle" old things instead of throwing them out. How can something be used in a better way than before? This class fosters creativity and imagination for innovative thinking and construction. If students interested in RYP already know how to sew, they will be able to share ideas and knowledge of their materials and skills while learning new techniques and fine-tuning their own design ideas. Each student will at least get to make 1-3 grocery bags for the first project, but there may be opportunities to make other designs like picnic blankets, wallets, and anything that the student can imagine. If students have their own sewing machines, fabric scissors, or sewing kits, they are encouraged to bring them, but supplies and tools will be provided. Students can bring their own used clothing (make sure it is clean please!), but many materials for this camp have been provided by New Fairfield Thrift Store. August 12-14, Monday-Wednesday, 2-5 pm, $135
