Next year is going to be massive for EastEnders as the hit BBC soap turns 30, and now head honcho Dominic Treadwell-Collins has revealed that to celebrate, the show will be going “back to its origins.” Of course, before we can even think about the anniversary next February, we have Christmas and New Year to get excited about, with two massive Carter family secrets being revealed, and a show regular being killed off on New Year’s Day. Then of course we have the murder of Lucy Beale still playing out in the background, with promises of the big reveal to come during a live episode of the show at the end of a week containing live segments to mark the show’s landmark anniversary. But what else can we expect in 2015? The answer is, rather a lot it would seem! Dominic Treadwell-Collins has been teasing the upcoming year at a recent press event, where he revealed that the likes of Kat (Jessie Wallace), Alfie (Shane Richie), Phil (Steve McFadden), Sharon (Letitia Dean) and Ian (Adam Woodyatt) will all see their fair share of drama in the months leading up to the birthday. eastenders alfie kat christmas (4) Poor Kat and Alfie have already faced more drama than you could shake a stick at this year, with their house being burned down and them losing everything, including their home and possibly each other, but DTC has revealed that he has had mercy on them and given the iconic couple a fairly quiet Christmas, but from the sounds of it they should make the most of the peace! Digital Spy quotes DTC as saying on the subject: “Kat and Alfie are quieter at Christmas, but their story for next year is new, fresh and exciting. “Dot also finally has Christmas with Nick, which is really magical… This is [all] building to the anniversary. We really wanted to go back to our origins and you’ll see between now and February that big stories start to rumble for Dot, Ian, Sharon and Phil which build to the anniversary.” The producer also confirmed the return of another show favourite, Kim Fox, who has been off on a cruise liner whilst Tameka Empson, the actress who plays her, took maternity leave. Discussing Kim’s return to the Fox family, DTC commented: “Kim returns which is wonderful. She returns with a secret. That’s the start of a very, very big exciting story for Denise and Kim, and some new faces
