Nez Perce Trail Ride 2014 - Hetty Dutra: There I was, all bright eyed and bushy tailed, heading out in my rig, to go to Turkey Hill Equestrian Campground at Comanche. Shug and Cheetah were loaded and munching breakfast alfalfa. At the foot of Pig-Farm Hill the truck sounded like it was shifting, but made a lot of noise. As I started up the grade, it began to lose power. Its an automatic, but I shifted to 3rd, then 2nd and then 1st gear. The truck crept up the hill at about 10 miles per hour. I was hoping wed get to the top, because being broken down on the grade didnt sound good! Being nervous about breaking down on the way home, I called Joe Cruz, who was doing fence work at the ranch. He came and followed me home - no problem going downhill. We unhooked, but I refused to completely unload - hope springs eternal, as they say. The tow truck is here, and the truck is being taken to Hilltop Ford to see whats wrong with it. Its disappointing, but a lot better than breaking down somewhere far from home with two horses in the trailer! I do have US Rider insurance, but it still is a very long wait to get help from them. Im just hoping it isnt too serious. Were going to have days of great riding weather - everything is packed and ready to go - I just want to go! It takes a lot to get coverage here. Not like the old days when I called Victoria and she came for the duration! How lucky I was.
