Ngayong Papal Visit, wag na sanang umepal pa ulit ang mga born again na may hawak na plakard at walang pagtitimping kumundina sa mga debotong Katoliko. Walang problema sa street evangelism, itself. In fact, ako mismo, ginagawa ko yon. From time to time, kasama ang iba ko pang Christian friends,nage-engage kami ng ibat ibang tao sa kalye para i-share sa kanila ang Gospel.Na experience ko nang mag-share both sa mga worldy na kabataan at hardcore na religious preachers. Base sa aking experience, may proper time and place para gawin ang anumang bagay (Ecclesiastes 3). And more importantly, may proper way and manner. Gusto natin ng applied apologetics? Ang most quoted verse tungkol sa apologetics ay 1 Peter 3:15 - Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. BUT DO THIS WITH GENTLENESS AND RESPECT. Maraming apologist ang sobrang hot sa pag-defend, nakalimutan na ang last phrase ng main verse for apologetics. Gusto nating maging biblical? Ito ang sabi ng Bible about sa pagco-correct: As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. -Romans 14:1 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. -Colossians 4:6 Never speak harshly to an older man, but appeal to him respectfully as you would to your own father. Talk to younger men as you would to your own brothers. -1 Timothy 5:1 Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. -James 1:19 Nang dahil sa scandalous scene na nangyari nang nakaraang Fiesta ng Itim na Nazareno, nadungisan ang magandang testimony ng evangelicals sa maraming tao. Dahil normal sa atin ang maging stereotype, nagmukhang buong sangka-Kristiyanuhan tuloy ang nire-represent ng mga iyon. Personally, against ako sa relihiyosong debosyon dahil unbiblical talaga yong practice. And at the same time, I believe 100% sa doctrine and theology ng mga preacher na iyon. However, hindi ibig sabihin non ay kailangan ko na ring mag-agree sa way ng pagpe-preach nila. My right theology doesnt give me the license to intolerantly disrespect other peoples devotion, in an ungentle manner, even if to say, theyre doing unbiblical things. “Our culture has accepted two huge lies. The first is that if you disagree with someone’s lifestyle, you must fear or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense. You don’t have to compromise convictions to be compassionate.” -Pastor Rick Warren Kumusta naman kaya yong mga taong nakarinig nga ng Gospel nong araw na yon? May nag-accept kaya kay Jesus? Out of the so many devotees, kung may kahit isa man lang sanang na-sharean, in a loving manner, at nag-accept yon, mas matutuwa pa si Jesus at magkakaroon ng party party sa Heaven dahil mas may pakialam Siya sa 1 kaysa sa 99. (Luke 15:7) So, anong best na gawin bilang Christian ngayong Papal Visit? PRAY! Ask God for safety and protection of the Pope and the rest of the Filipinos who will join the events, and that trough this pastoral visit, may Jesus be magnified!
