Nhan Dan Online – State President, Truong Tan Sang has stressed the need to pay special attention to promoting the core role of the Supreme People’s Court as the centre of judicial activities and the judicial body that ensures the legitimate rights and interests of the State and citizens. The leader was speaking at a meeting held on July 15 by the Supreme People’s Court to report on implementation of its tasks during the first six months of 2014 and discuss direction for the second half. President Sang said that the judicial sector operation over the period recorded active results with an increasing number of mobile trials, progress in adjudication quality, and promotion of litigation at court. Many major cases were promptly brought to trial, winning support from public opinion. “The remarkable achievement shown in adjudication work is ensuring benefits for the State and its citizens to bring justice to all,” the leader stressed. He suggested the court should focus on encouraging judicial reform of the People’s Court law, expressing the spirit of the 2013 Constitution and reducing cumbersome procedures, for convenient access to justice for people. Stressing the need to combine litigation at court with a review of investigation results, President Sang proposed the court improve the capacity of the judicial system, strengthening internal management, and regularly reminding personnel to strictly perform their work while abiding by current laws and regulations. Delivering reports at the meeting, leaders of the People’s Supreme Court confirmed that in the first half of this year, the court system nationwide resolved 158,124 out of the 243,180 cases they had received.
