Niagara Derby, August 2nd 2014 $1500 for 1st, $750 for 2nd, and $250 for 3rd GENERAL RULES: 1. these rules are for the safety of all involved including crew and officials. also the cost of car in mind. all cars must be constructed following these rules, if certain items are not listed it doesnt make it legal!! judges have final call. if there are any questions call ahead, we want to make this fun, fair, and safe for all! 2. all cars must be present at least 1 hour before( earlier the better) before event for inspection purposes. all cars must be removed after unless arrangements are made 3. all drivers must have helmet with shield or eye protection. must have long sleeves and long pants. no shorts or open toe shoes 4. unsportsmanlike conduct by driver, crew, or friends will not be tolerated and will cause disqualification. judge makes call 5. drivers meeting will be held before event begins. all drivers to be present. all protests on other drivers or cars need to be made at this time, any protest must be made by a driver. there will be a $100 protest fee which will be returned if protest is found to be legitimate. 6. only driver and crew with wrist band allowed in pit. if you have people in the pits that dont belong youll be disqualified. 7. Each car will be timed in the ring, 1 minute to make a hit, 2 minutes to get car fired off. CAR RULES: 1. passenger type cars only. no convertibles, hearse, ambulance or sedagons. 2. seat belts required, shoulder belt optional. 3. all glass and trim removed and cleaned out of car, we dont need that stuff flying around the track. 4, After market steering columns allowed, No reinforcing of the steering components. 5. doors may be welded or chained shut. Driver side door seam may be welded solid, other door seams may be welded 5 on 5 off any questions call 6. 6 bolts or chains max in hood front two may be 1 max, other 3/4” or less, The 2 front bolts may go thru the frame, NOT welded to the frame. The other 4 must be sheet metal to sheet metal. 7. If you use chain or wire, you may weld up to 5 washers to the hood. If bolting, the 5 washers must be free floating. 8. You may install up to 12 - 3/8 bolts or self tapping screws per hood cutout, Maximum washer size is 1 diameter. Cutouts may be for header clearance, air breather clearance or radiator fill opening only. These bolts may NOT be installed in any area other than the immediate perimeter of the cut out. NO welding of cut outs is allowed. 9. Trunk lid may be welded 5 on and 5 off with 2 x 1/8 strap max, or up to 6 bolts or chains. 10. no tucking hood . must be full or no hood. if no hood no eng. fan 11. suspension may be solid. You may weld, bolt or chain down your A arms. You are allowed either two 1” straps, **OR** one chain **OR** one bolt per side. All chains, bolts or welds must be in the middle of the A-arm. Do not weld entire A arm down, If you are in excess of this rule, you will not run! 12. differential may be welded if desired. top of real coil springs can be chained or wired to frame to keep them from falling out. No air shocks. judges have final decision, Braced Rear ends allowed, sliders allowed. 13. Rear ends must be of a passenger car origin, 5 lug maximum. You may use any make of rear end, No truck, 8 lug, or floater rear ends. If you Flat Stack leaf cars no more than 9 leaf packs 14. radiator must stay in stock location, nylon straps may be wrapped around rad. but no other reinforcement. electric fans are ok 15. engine and trans may be interchanged but must stay in stock location. cutting of firewall ok for engine swap purposes but not any more than needed to fit motor into car. can weld in tranny cross member Carb & Distributor protectors allowed. 16. Mopars are allowed to secure K member in the following ways: Remove pucks and bolt tight to frame, stock size bolts only, Leave pucks in between and weld 4 - 3 inch welds, total (not per side) of 12 inches only 17. electric fuel pumps ok. BUT must have power switch clearly marked and accessible from outside car for safety workers in case of emergency. 18. body mounts may be removed 19. Any bumpers on any car, Bumpers may be cut to keep them out of the tires, Bumpers may be flipped (upside down), Compression bumper shocks may be drained, slid back into the shock and welded fully, You may weld the outer chrome skin to the bumper inner frame, All bumper brackets and shock components must be OEM automotive materials, NO HOMEMADE MOUNTS. 20. no reinforcement of frame of any kind except for drivers door. reinforcement can run 6 front and back of drivers door. ONLY welding allowed on frame is welding of Front & back bumper, and also from the A-arms forward, (top ONLY), no more than a ½ wide bead. Pinning of the humps, no other reinforcing of the frame of any kind. 21. Tilting is allowed, max of 10in weld per crush box. 22. You can tuck the trunk but when securing the trunk lid it must be to the floorboard of the trunk not the frame. 23. tranny coolers are ok but must be in back seat area and well covered. good quality lines and materials must be used for safety reasons. if it looks shabby your not gonna run it and this is the judges opinion! 24. Plating is okay on pre-run cars ONLY if your car is fresh with plates you will have to cut them off….only plating allowed is 10inches on each frame rail. You are allowed to plate the inside and outside of the frame rails NOT top and bottom. 25. may also for safety have reinforcement behind drivers seat running between door posts(b post)may be Yed on driver side frame to passenger side post,and also across dash area(a post) but it must be safely done( heavy material),(may run 1 bar per side connecting A-post to B-post.) also one down the middle questions call 26. Halo bars allowed, may connect to frame, may NOT be angled toward the rear of the car. They must be vertical, It may not exceed 5 in diameter 27. #9 wire may be used in ONLY 6 spots using no more than 4 strands per spot, Washers for #9 Wire may be welded to the roof sheet metal. They may be a maximum of 1 ½ diameter 28. batt. must be secure and well covered, A maximum of 2 - 12 volt batteries may be used. 29. steel boat type gas tanks or race type fuel cells only. Max of 10 gallons of gas, tank to be in rear seat area well secured and well covered 30. must have functioning brakes 31. no studded tires. air only in tires, no foam or other material in tires. double sidewalls ok. Valve stem protectors allowed. 32. pre run cars are ok but they must comply with these rules. if its all hacked up judges will decide if its ok to run. Any questions call Michael Neumann 701-330-1776
