Nice article in Archaeology International 12 about the repatriation of prehistoric artefacts from Naqada and Siwa Oasis, formerly held in storage in UCLs stores in London, to Cairo. The article looks at where the objects came from, how they came to be in London, why they are important and how they were repatriated to Egypt. It also looks at UCLs Institute of Archaeology and its policies regarding collections, which is a useful insight into university acquisitions of material. I am mentioned in the acknowledgements but my entire contribution to the day was the provision of a rather old Volvo! I was very glad to be there because it was a first and last chance to go through the Siwan lithics, which are a truly remarkable collection.
