Nice exposure; the source says.[..] “Kambwili didn’t complete his degree program but instead he used his powers as cabinet minister to get his degree a secret arrangement was made with staff and lecturers from the university. All his assignments were written for him, all his exams were pre-marked, and he would only go there to show that he attended the exam secession.” The PF source alleges that Kambwili paid a total sum of K50,000 to the Chairman and Chancellor of Copperstone University, a Dr. Sitwala Mundia, who allegedly ordered that Kambwili’s academic studies be delivered for him and his exams pre-marked; PF Administration of God of the Republic of Zambia’s Minister of Sport Chisimba Kambwili was wrongly awarded his university degree, says a source inside the Patriotic Front (PF) administration. Records at Copperstone University in Kitwe show that Mr Kambwili was registered as a full time student, and completed all the necessary coursework on time in order to be awarded his degree in Business Administration. The only issue, the source points out, was that Kambwili supposedly completed this coursework of a full time student while serving as a full time Cabinet Minister in Lusaka, as well as a full time Member of Parliament including several visits to his constituency of Roan. “Kambwili would have not managed to get his degree as a full time student because he has spent most of his time in Lusaka,” the source says. “Kambwili didn’t complete his degree program but instead he used his powers as cabinet minister to get his degree a secret arrangement was made with staff and lecturers from the university. All his assignments were written for him, all his exams were pre-marked, and he would only go there to show that he attended the exam secession.” The PF source alleges that Kambwili paid a total sum of K50,000 to the Chairman and Chancellor of Copperstone University, a Dr. Sitwala Mundia, who allegedly ordered that Kambwili’s academic studies be delivered for him and his exams pre-marked. Others were also allegedly paid to fake the degree, including the Director of Finance and the Dean of Students at Copperstone. After he “graduated,” Kambwili further ordered staff at the Ministry of Sports to post adverts to congratulate him, using ministerial funds to celebrate this personal achievement. The ads were posted in Times of Zambia and Daily Mail for about four days at a cost of K6,000 kwacha per ad per day, totaling some K24,000 of government money wasted on an unauthorised and improper expense. The ACC, however, has been completely quiet on the issue, the source says. The main campus and head office of Copperstone University is located on plot number 8122, Copper House, along Central Street in Nkana West, with several other locations throughout Kitwe and an extension campus in Kasama, Northern Province. The university is one of Zambia’s leading private institutions, with 1,500 students, 75 staff, and well regarded study programmes in Business and Management Studies, Social Sciences, Engineering, Information Technology and Computing, Occupational Safety Health and Environment, Education and Post Graduate Studies. In recent weeks, pressure has been increasing against Kambwili as he is regarded to hold ambitions to become the successor to President Sata, making him a target of competing factions within the ruling party. This leak regarding his academic degree was preceded by another leak that President Michael Sata castigated him by telephone following comments he made about UNZA bursaries. -- zambiareports/2014/10/07/kambwili-wrongly-awarded-university-degree-source/
