Nice review in the Vulgo today: In his uber-charming and paired back contemporary circus solo, “Whistle”, newcomer Darragh McLoughlin merges different ways of creating, drawing from cinema, circus and movement theatre, to play with the audience’s expectations and psychology in disarming ways. “When you hear the sound of the whistle you have to close your eyes. when you hear it again you may open them.” If you choose to play this game, you become simultaneously spectator and creator of the show – your show. If you don’t – what are you? A cheat? A stick in the mud? Whatever – nobody is policing you. And so, a juggler, a whistle, and you, the spectator, together create a multitude of collaborative moments. A journey through several quirky yet often poetic narratives, Whistle is undoubtedly in the running for the most charming show of the festival.
