Nice thanks for posting and providing history. Ive seen many historical pictures of African women standing with men as leaders in the community but there was no background information on the picture. I think African men do cherish women. My one on one experience with African men in America at the universities in 70s and later in business is they were not as accepting of the intellect of women as partners. We have a hard time connecting with African men in America. Does this reflect a class structure because they were from families with money and were raised to think women can only be in subordinate roles or is this a common belief? After they acclimated to American women 2 to 5 years its gets easier to discuss issues without their always present attitude of superiority. Any black women I know wants the dominant confident protector but african men Ive met take it way too far. Black women have skills naturally because weve always worked to survive and require a Strong protector who values women and their points of view. I ve never had problems with African women who were always warm, charming and intelligent. I plan to visit Africa near future to a better personal understanding of cultures.
