Nice to see NASCAR involved in such a good cause ! *Diana* Survivors Invited to Help Kick Off Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Charlotte Motor Speedway: More than 100 breast cancer survivors and their supporters are expected to join #22-Joey Logano and Charlotte Motor Speedway President and General Manager Marcus Smith to paint pit wall pink to kick off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and preview the upcoming Bank of America 500 race weekend. For the fourth consecutive year and as part of a continued effort to raise awareness of breast cancer education and research and to honor those who have fought the disease, Charlotte Motor Speedway will incorporate a pink theme into parts of the weekends race activities. According to the American Cancer Society, more than 232,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year alone. But with early detection, experts say there is a 98% survival rate for those affected by the disease. In addition to drivers and teams sporting unique pink paint schemes, fans who attend next weekends races will notice the pink pit wall, which will get a fresh coat of pink paint on Wednesday. In total, crews will use 80 gallons of paint provided by PPG Porter and Glidden Paints to cover more than 6,000 square feet for pit wall. Survivors and their families are invited to join the paint pit wall pink party, which will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday in Victory Circle. Those interested in attending are asked to email an RSVP to sfilcik@charlottemotorspeedway by 3 p.m. on Tuesday. From knockout qualifying on Thursday and the NASCAR Nationwide Series best battling for bragging rights on Friday to the only Saturday night race in the Chase, fans can catch all the fun with weekend packages starting at just $99.
