Nice to see the new year getting off to a great start with a couple of terrific little stories in Saturday’s Kalgoorlie Miner. ONYA to the folk in Esperance and Esperance Freight Lines for helping out German backpacker Cori Schweitzer and her friends following a crash they were involved in at the Cape Arid National Park on Thursday. Fortunately no one was injured and thanks to all those who assisted, Cori, her friends and their belongings are safely on their way back to Perth. ONYA also to the wonderful staff and contractors at KCGM for their donation of a $24,000 bonus to local organisations Finlayson House, Goldfields District Scouting Association, Salvation Army and Goldfields Regional Toy Library. The bonus came as a result of the team reaching two million hours without an absence or a work-related injury or illness, a great feat on its own. It’s heartening that there are still many folk out there prepared to go that little bit further. After a well-deserved break the team will be back to continue their hard work at my Esperance Office on Monday, January 5. I will be in Esperance, Ravensthorpe and Hopetoun between January 12 and 28 and look forward to catching up. Thank you for your support in 2014 and further as we work toward a better 2015.
