Nice to see this Dutch website on Human Rights. What surprises me is that they say that rights are especially to protect people from the government. Is it? Isnt it also protection from harm caused by fellow citizens? Of course, I and my fellow citizens ARE the government as well, but I think it is better if we say that we need to start with ourselves to achieve our rights and to respect the rights of others. Yes, of course its essential the government also takes their duty to ensure that the basic rights like the right to health and education are fulfilled, but lets not only focus on what the government should do..
