Nice weather shopping basket: strawberries and blueberries, fish and chicken to grill, spinach and arugula and butter lettuce, watermelon, corn on the cob..... Yesterdays shopping basket: brussels sprouts and broccolini completely covered by ginger cookies, little pies, shortbread cookies, almond croissants, dinner rolls and tortilla chips. It may be cold but the sun is out today. Therefore I am taking a long walk. I know my eyes will sting and water and my nose and fingers will get really cold, but I will be able to check on the chickens who live around the corner from me and analyze tracks in the snow and see cardinals everywhere. I wonder if they have any idea how beautiful they are. If they had little bird mirrors, they might never leave the nest in favor of admiring themselves. Thinking of all of you in the northeast today who are gearing up for a blizzard. Be safe and keep warm.
